Holiday Rentals

The Christmas holiday is one of the busiest, most traveled times of the year.  Why pack on the miles on your own car?

There are deals to be had, and this is the time of the year to have them!  There are a number of ways you can get amazing deals this time of year, and many ways to save money.  Here are some suggestions:

  1. Online Discounts – Ordering your rental vehicle online is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to save money.  By arranging your rental online, rental agencies save tons of money by not having to pay for staff or extra expenses for them.  In return, the agencies pass some of the savings on to you.
  2. Advance Bookings – If you know you are going to need a vehicle earlier in the year, ordering in advance can save you tons of money.  Rental agencies know that if you are renting a few days in advance then you are probably fairly desperate and willing to pay more.  If you make arrangements well in advance, you avoid the last minute bump in price.  If you’re planning a few months in advance, you might be able to wait until deals or coupons become available.
  3. Weekend Discounts – Weekday rentals are usually more expensive because business customers can usually afford to pay more.  Rental companies discount weekend rates to attractive individual customers.  If you can, book your vehicle for a weekend, or include a weekend in the days you want the vehicle for.  If you include a weekend in your days, you typically get discount rental car rates.
  4. Minimize. Most of us would love to cruise around in a sports car rental.. but do we really need it?  Taking the compact or mid-sized rental can save lots of cash vs the big SUV rentals or sports cars.  Often, if you book a smaller vehicle online or over the phone in advance, you can talk your agent into an upgrade when you pick it up.  Inquire about upgrades.
  5. Email Coupons – Sign up for rental agency email newsletters.  Most agencies will send online coupons through emails, coupons that aren’t available any other way.

Good luck!
